Browsing the info on the Bayliner web site I see that boats as old as the 2000 model year list these features but I don't know exactly what they mean. Can anyone expand on these features:

* Unitized construction with glassed-in bulkheads

* XL Composite Panels: Lifetime Limited Guarantee Against Rot in Hull, Deck & Upholstery Components

* APS III Hull Technology - New 2001

* Box Beam Stringers

Mark 42,

I'll try and clear this up a little for you but I make no promises that you will understand my ranting.
Unitized Construction - Very simply means all units are assembled as one piece with whatever bulkheads needed are glassed in - unitized - one piece.

XL panels - These are pieces of nothing more than a type of StarBoard - no wood, no rot.

APS lll - these are certain hull designs made for a Mercury engine / drive setup. Things like a delta step pad, a three "speed" hull transition, etc.

Stringers - Simply are stringers that are foam filled and then fiberglassed. Some may have wood, depends on the boat type.

Hope that helped - .

Thanks GCBOAT!

I am now the proud owner of a 1985 1600 cuddy cabin. Will be picking it up tomorrow. I can hardly wait!
