I have read several posts regarding the issue with the carburated Merc engines dieseling. My 1993 4.3L LX is doing this also.

I found the service bulletin and figured I would start with the least expensive fixes. So, I am going to check the timing, lower the idle, and increase the idle mixture (all suggested by Mercruiser, all cost me nothing)

This is going to be the first time I have done all of these things on my own. I have helped people with these things in the past, but don't necessarily remember how to do them all. I am going to borrow a timing light and pickup some ear muffs on my way home from work, and wondered if there were any tips anyone can give me for doing these things? I have the SELOC for this btw.

Sorry for the long post. I probably could've written less, but it's too late now.
