Hello,
I have a 2006 Yamaha F150 that I can't get to start. The motor has been bullet proof thus far. When I try to start it the motor will turn over a couple of times and sounds just like the battery is about dead. All of my electronics and gauges work. The trim and trim tabs work like they are getting good juice. I replaced the battery this week and when I check it with my multimeter it reads fully charged.
My first thought was that I had hooked the cables up to the new battery I had made a mistake. I have attached two photos of the cables. Maybe someone can see a mistake on my part.
I have taken the cables off of the new battery and cleaned the terminals and posts. Put them back on good and tight. Still will not start.
If you will note on the second photo there is what looks like a breaker attached to the inside of the battery box. There is what I take to be a reset button (red) on the breaker and the button is sticking out. I tried to push it back in but it will not stay in. Don't know if the button should be in or out. Also don't know if this would even play any part in my problem. There is a heavy red wire that comes from the battery to the breaker and a small wire that comes out of the breaker. There is a 10 amp fuse in the wire that comes from the breaker. It appeared to be burned out so I replaced it. Did not help.
My gut feel is that we have a user problem here and I am just overlooking something.
Unfortunately I am pretty much electronically challenged so I don't know how to check for current flow or anything of that nature.
If anyone can see any problem with my wiring or can suggest anything that I can check please let me know.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Charlie
