Hi All;

Last October I bought a boat with the engine disassembled into boxes. I just purchased a long block, and now trying to assemble all of the external parts. I was wondering if there is a site that will show detailed diagrams of the engine. Or if someone could send a few pictures of thier engine my way. I found a couple of sites that show parts, but are too vauge.

Any help would would be much appreciated.

The engine in question is a 1989 4.3L mercruiser with the thunderbolt ignition.

Thanks again.

Cheers

Tom

Go up to the Adults Only sticky at the top of this forum, and download the OEM service manual for your engine. #7 is the one you want. It will have as much info as you are going to find.

You can also try searching google images or Ebay for boats with your same engine, to get pictures of how the engine is supposed to look when it's completely assembled. My boat had the engine ripped apart when I bought it and the pictures I found off the internet came in very useful, most of them I found while searching Ebay.

Oh yeah, get the manual DonS suggested, lots of good info there you will need.

There are a few things that will go in either way but only one right way to put in. Like piston/rod assy. The little nick on the piston goes forward, but which bank? you have to be sure the little (tiny) groove between the rob cap halves faces the cam. If you have a friend that know engines it would be helpful to get some insight form him.

In case you missed it in his first post.

Try to find the pix and description for your specific engine and year. There have been MANY differences in placement of all external accessories.
