need help with evinrude 5hp

i have a evinrude 5hp it was turning on but alot of white smoke would come out i stored it for about 2 weeks and tried to turn it on and it doesnt do anything so i just changed the 2 sparkplugs and got new gas and still does not turn on not even a noise if anyone can give me a little advise on what to do i will gladly appreciate it. iam new at this boat motor stuff this is my upgrade from a kayak

clarify what you mean, "will not turn over" flywheel will not turn, or the motor will not start? what is the model # or year?

evinrude 5hp (1968) angler everything turns but it just dont come on

Just for clarity's sake, outboard motors don't "turn on," they "start" and "run." We've gotta get on the same page with our language so we can understand each other.

So, you're saying that your 5hp used to run, but won't start and run any longer. When did it stop running? What have you done since then to try to fix it?

i fixed the prop and ran the motor i stored it for three weeks took it out and it does not start anymore so i put new sparkplugs and got new fuel

OK, how long have you had this outboard? Is it new to you, or is it one you've had for years?

If you just got it recently, then there's probably some maintenance you'll need to do. The carburetor may be gummed up and need cleaning. The ignition may need to be worked on.

There is a thread on this forum, in the FAQ section of the main forum. The title is "Waking Up a Sleeping Outboard." There's another one that has a title like, "Outboard Won't Start."

Read those, do the things spelled out in them, then get back to us with the results. Playing a game of 20 questions is just going to delay getting your outboard running, since all the answers are already in those threads.
