I have a Power Drive ser # MKAC2203267. My first question is: Does anyone know what year this motor is?
It's on a boat my son just purchased and in checking it out, we find that when hooked up to a fresh battery we have prop rotation but no steering. How can we determine whether the problem is the pedal or the Drive Unit? We looked at the pedal and it looks pretty corroded inside. We can get a new pedal for $74 +, but before we do that is there anyway at all to determine if the drive unit is working? I noticed that the motor shaft rotates by hand freely with no power applied. Is that normal or should there be some sort of resistence when rotated by hand? Can power be applied manually at all to the drive unit to see if steering occurs? Are there any ohm meter measurements we can do to determine if the drive unit is good? Can we download any good schematics showing wiring and plug pin numbers for troubleshooting purposes?
