OK, Dont know if any of you saw my last post, but basically my throttle controls werent working. I dont like the way the old ones looked anyways, so i decided to pick up the bombardier brand new black controls with the converter for the johnson harness. (The motor is a 77 Johnson 70HP Model # 70EL77S)

Here's where the problem comes in. the old throttle cables have a plasic peice with a metal screw theough the middle of it holding the inner cable secure. (Picture shown below)

Get the idea of how it works? I do... but the new one is that is confusing the hell out of me. It has this little cap where it would look like the old one would hold on to, but no place to screw down the inner cable. (Pic below)

So now this is what its supposed to look like, but I cant get it to work because there is no way to hold the cable down.

Any idea's? I dont want to replace the cable now that i have spent the money on just getting these controls just to work with my harness!

Well.....what ya' need to do is replace the existing control cables with the "Snap-In" cables. The ones your working with don't have the extra hole in them. The Snap-In's do. The picture looks like a generic type cable that may fit an older control. Look on the existing cable for a length and go get two new cables. It'll fall in place once you get them.

Do you know anywhere I can order them online?

Also, will the snap in cables have a problem connecting to the cable mounts on the motor? It is a '77 motor and the cables connect the same way on the motor too.

Ok heres what you do. In the top picture, there is a small allen head screw in the end of the white plastic piece. Loosen the screw and you should be able to remove this piece by sliding it off the old cable and use it on your new cable. Put it on the cable aproximately in the same position as it was on the old throttle cable.
Hope this helps.

Basscat - Cant do that... the screw holding the cable is a square connector. so is the hole for the screw... they dont match up.
