Hi.
I have a 1997 225 Pro Max EFI and the upper bearing is going out. Try as I may, I cannot figure out what exact bearing to buy. Can someone please tell me a part number or something?
Thank You.

Bearing going out ?----Part of the bearing is the crankshaft I believe.-----Why do you say the bearing is " going out " here.

its just what the repair shop said. said it was $2000 to replace it, too! NO WAY!

Yes way!!! Engine has to come off and crankcase to be split to replace it. If crank surface is damaged going to cost more!!

Part Number 31-816773A 2

Thank You, AllDodge!
I punched in my serial number (OG503050) and bam! that sight had it all. Great info!
Faztbullet, you told me in another post that I could just loosen the case bolts and pull the bearing housing. Said to put it in the oven at 375 and listen for the bearing to fall in a coffee can.

all dodge gave you a number for tha 3.0 motor.. yours is gonna be a 2.5 ProMax"..

you "might" get away with not splitting tha case but very good chance ya gonna screw tha top cap up even if ya have a lotta experience workin' on these things.. lotta gentle pryn', tappin', heat involved.... know a lotta very experienced folks that won't attempt it at all unless its a have too situation.... your gamble!.. tha crank journal needs ta be checked very closely if indeed tha bearing is bad.... fast is referin' to tha "pressed in bearing and race" top cap I think?.. yours is a two piece, plastic incased bearing, that jus drops in tha cap, pressed race... better ta replace tha whole assembly if bearing did go south..

jan.. if bearing did go south ya might wanna check tha 2 check valves in evolved with its oiling.. items 9 and 10 in bleed system dia.. 9 is a one way valve goin' out and 10 is open.....

bearing... 31-17656A 4
assembly... 1159-8585217 1

I have always known my serial number to be OG503050. AllDodge didn't give it to me. That is the number I used on the parts look up that he gave me. The bearing and assy. number you gave me is the same as what I looked up, though.
I will check into the oil passages. thanks for the info! Good Stuff.

Got the bearing out today but, I can't see anything wrong with it. I pulled the top 3 or 4 case bolts on each side but, it still didn't give much room. I DID carefully pry on it to get it out. When I got the carrier out, the bearing remained on the crank. When I inspected it, It was oily and everything looks nice and smooth. No pitting or anything. I did all this with the powerhead still on the mid-section but, I still don't see why the case wouldn't separate more. I couldn't find any pry points on the case, either. Is there a way to make it separate more for the new bearing and carrier? I would have to freeze the carrier and tap on it to get it back in. Prying it out was probably not a good idea and pounding it in would probably be worse.
