heres what i'm getting in trouble with. i know for a fact that my 1994 mercruiser 3.0 and alpha 1 are running and driving fine. i went to the lake the other day got ready to start the boat, pushed in the throttle only button and it wouldnt go in. i pushed on it a heck of alot and it wont move in even a little bit. i cant get it started unless i can fix that button so i can give it some gas without it being in gear. it wasnt anything with the cables or linkage becasuse with the engine off it goes into gear just fine. is there something inside the handle mechanism than i can repair like a bushing or plastic actuator? or it that handle just toast and i need a whole new one? i'm fairly sure its a commander 3000. i'm looking to do the work myself and am more than capable of making a control box swap, just want to know how to get it appart and where to find the parts. thanks guys!

I imagine the button could be stuck. My Merc has an Hex/ Alan screw at the bottom of the hammer that comes out. The other screws are exposed.
