need help with starter solenoid connection.

I have a 1978 cobolt with a omc 351 5.8 litter and having problems with starter. starter is new boat didnt come with a starter the only wires I have there are the positive and negitive. the selnoids has 3 possible connections can someone help me to describe wgat connects to what am mind boggled on what goes where. or a diagram. thank you

being a ford and using a ford solenoid, heavy yellow or red from right side of solenoid to starter lug
main battery cable to left side of solenoid
small yellow/red stripe to left side of small lug
small black wire to right side of small lug.
This is assuming the solenoid is not mounted to the starter ,if you have the solenoid mounted to the starter:
battery cable to upper large lug, yellow/red stripe to small lug on the left

the only problem am having with the starter is that since the boat didnt come wuth one there's only the positive cable from battery terminal and ground wire from the body of engine I have no yellow purple green etc wires... looked and don't see anything. where would I have to hook up the wires to or how would I go about doing this??

wait a minute here I think the old starter didnt have a mounted selnoids this one is mounted bc all the wires I need are on top of engine they look like to separate selnoids from were starter is at. looks like there getting the power from top selnoids and running it down to the starter... so do I remove the selnoids wiring on top to the attached selnoids to starter???

and since the boat never came with a starter when I bought it all the selnoids are on top of the engine block so to me am guessing before they took the starter out the figure 2 starter is what was in it before since all the selnoids are on top of the engine block.

If they removed Fig2 and replaced with Fig1 ,remove the main battery cable from the solenoid and connect it to the upper large post , locate the yellow/red stripe wire at the solenoid , remove it and connect to the small stud closest to the motor. Take some photos and using photobucket.com post them. its a free site

from the picture I sent you I don't see a yellow and red striped wire looked and nothing.
