I have a 97 115 ocean runner with a system check tach. When I start up i get 3 lights and a beep no oil, hot, chk engine no light for the low oil. from what I hear the v 4 engine does not use the ck engine light so I am guessing that my ck engine light is actually my low oil. It keeps comming on with a 20 second beep. I topped off my oil tank and still happens. How can I disconnect that annoying beep. I found a plug on the motor but when I disco that all my guages go off. any help please?

I am having a bit of trouble understanding your post, but if I am reading it correctly, you are getting a waring horn every 20 seconds once the outboard is started? Or no?

As you stated, that is the low oil alarm. Disconnecting the alarm is not the answer, as it can prevent fatal damage to your outboard. Is it sounding every 20 seconds, or a constant beep? Will unplugging the TAN wire to the oil tank cause it to stop? What about disconnecting the TAN wire from the horn? Will it continue? Regarding the horn, is the TAN wire connected to the terminal closest to the black ground terminal?

Re: Need help with system check tach

Sorry it is not sounding every 20 . when I start the motor it does the system check with a quick beep. then the chk engine light comes on and I get a 20 second beep and it stops a while later the light will go out may be fine for a while then the light comes back on and I get another 20 second beep. It is intermitted doesnt not happen every time I start the motor. I am not very mechanical so when you say pull the tan wire is that on the motor or the tach thanks for your help

The "chk engine" light has nothing to do with the oil level and is not wise to remove the beeper because you will not hear the next problem you will feel it!!!
On my evin (90 hp ocean pro) all the light are functional.
Try to remove enough oil from the container and see if you trigger the low oil alarm and light. If you trigger the "chk engine" alarm then you are right
