Hi all- I got my 1990 90 HP Nissan out the other day and boy did it run sweet. Need to wash and wax but right now I am turning my attention to my 1979 240SRV Searay. I have sanded down the swimdeck to where I want to put stain or oil on and then some spar urethane. Its been a few years since I have done this and I cant remember what I used for stain. Im thinking it was Minwax but dont remember the color. Does anyone have any ideas for a good stain to put on or any other ideas for this project? I appreciate the help. Happy boating!!!

s&f, I guess you could stain the teak, but why? I'm partial, but I think teak is great in its natural color.. you want to clean it with a two part teak cleaner, then sand it and oil it... or put sikkens on it (I don,t like it but it lasts a long time), or if your a glutton for punishment and a bit masochistic, you can put varnish on it. :)

Yep, use the oil; varnish will bite you in the butt

Wet varnish is slippery as all get out. Wouldn't use it where I'd be walking. Do what Gary sez', you'll appreciate it in the long run. :D

Thanks guys for the info- you're right... i need to use the oil. I remember a few years back a guy talked me into stain and varnish. It looks great but yeah the water and all.. seems I used the starbrite when I first got the boat. I just spent part of two days sanding this deck. I started with 60 went to 100 and then I used 220. Its real smooth and the teak has come out good. So I need to put a few coats of teak oil on it and I am good to go!
