recently a wire broke loose on my tilt and trim switch on the control handle. I re-attached the wire to the switch and nothing happened. so i thought maybe i had damaged the switch when i soldered the wires back on it. I replace the switch and still got nothing. the t/t switch on the motor works fine. could the relay allow one switch to work and not the other? is there a fuse in the wiring from the switch on the control handle that i'm missing? please help!!!

Re: need help with tilt and trim wiring

Your problem is either the switch or the wires between the switch and control box. One thing you can try is to remove the wires from the switch and momentarily touch them together and see what happens. Red to Blue - engine should tilt up. Red to Green - engine should tilt down. If all of that is ok then the problem is the switch. If either one of those tests doesn't work then the problem is in the wiring (or the less likely possibility of a problem with the wiring AND switch - but in any case the wiring needs to be corrected first).

thanks! I was kinda afraid of that, didn't want to run all new wiring. that loose wire probably caused and short and burnt a wire, hopefully close to the control box. Thanks again!
