I am in the process of removing my old outboard so I can repower with a new one. My plastic transom trim is badly cracked and I would like to replace it. I have looked online to find a replacement for my particular boat but no luck. It curves up on each side so using aluminum pieces from Home Depot won't work.

The boat is a 14' Bayliner 1401 LS

Is transom trim even needed?

Also, I am attaching a couple links to something I was thinking could maybe work:

1.) Flexible White Vinyl sheet that I would custom cut and screw on with 5200.

2.) Rubber garage door seal from Home Depot (just need to find this in white)

Let me know what you think about these ideas. I can't afford to have a plastic mold made from my old trim.

Another thought is to use the aluminum from HD for a straight piece only on the center and where it curves up there would just be nothing. I could gel coat over that part to make it look proper or place the vinyl over that area.

Any advice is appreciated but I am on a budget and don't have tools to bend metal or plastics into shape.

Thanks.

A pix of what you've got now would help
