welcome to iboats!<br /><br />there are several points of attack actually.....<br /><br />You have breaker points on your motor, which is simple enough to fool with. You'll have to pull flywheel to get to them. They may need cleaned and the gaps adjusted (not 100% positive what the specs are). <br /><br />Check the compression on it, a good motor should run at least 100 psi or higher and close together. 90 and up is acceptable though. <br /><br />You should check the spark too, it should jump 7/16" gap and be bright and snappy. Anything less and motor won't run good, hard to start, and miss. Can be traced to bad coils (which are probably original), condensors, or dirty, out of adjustment points. <br /><br />There's plenty more to add, I won't hog it all....
