I have a 1996 RANGER SPORT R72 with a 90HP MARINER. My tilt and trim doesn't work on my throttle control, but it works up front and on the motor. I turn the key and i get nothing. No gauges, No sound, No start. I can pull start my motor and it runs just fine. Ive checked all the wires at the motor and every fuse i can find. Replaced every connection at the batteries still nothing. All my eletronics work from the dash like lights, horn, bilge pump etc.The last time it ran i had to wiggle the throttle control around to get it to start, is that where my problem is??? And if so what is the problem?? And how do i get in there to fix it??? I would love to get back out on the water so any help would be great thank ya'll....

Re: Need help!!

Problem may be in the ignition switch, but is more likely in the controls, since the tnt and start circuit are effected.

Possibly the neutral safety switch in the controls.

You are going to have to identify the controls you have by make and hopefully model.
Then let us know what you have.

We can tell you how to get inside,

Once inside, you need to check the wiring and switches.

For now, what you should do, is post a photo of the controls, and the back side of the ignition switch if it is mounted in the dash.

Re: Need help!!

I am willing to bet that 75% of your problems are just plain old corrosion.

It's time to start tracing wires and cleaning contact points/connections.

I moved this to the electrical section.............. you are on a gremlin hunt!

Just keep this in mind....... wires in a boat corrode where you can not see it and if you must replace any wires you must use marine grade wire or your repair will not last.
