need help!!!!!!

I have a 1975 9.9 hp Evinrude model# 10524c. I would like to know if anybody can tell me if there is a thermostat unit under the water cover or if there is a thermostat and a spring or some washers. I took mine apart and there is a thermostat that goes in the hole and nothing else. I want to make sure there is nothing missing before I reassemble. Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Billy

according to the Cylmer manual there is a seal that goes in first then the thermostat.

thank you much. The chilton book I have isnt very clear on model distinction so Its hard to see which models are which. Thanks again.
