Need idea " Zipper broken . Temp fix too connect side ensign glass too top canvas

I am leaving this Sat for a mini voyage . Not enough time too find a canvas person
Discovered zipper on my ensign glass will not connect too canvas top ????? Never used .
Glass is apx 4 ft long, 3 feet wide . Has snaps on side and bottom .
Here in FLA we get our daily down pours and if under power wanted too keep cockpit dry and not get drenched
Normally when it rains canvas top is fine, but under power wanted too zip glass all around

Velcro ? the zipper portion is narrow not a lot of smooth surface.
I could put Velcro top and let it connect too glass portion but not wanting glue stain on like new ensign
Hand SEW two parts TOGETHER and roll up ensign. MIGHT WORK
. Any other home remedies until I can remove and take too a shop .

thanks as usual

post a pic of both zipper sections. most likely you simply need to wax the zipper and get them started.

I've had 3 boats with enclosure canvas/isinglass and every one required a different procedure to close things up. Those enclosures shrink over time. First step is to secure the top zippers and let the panel relax in warm weather before you try to secure it.

On my current boat, I partially zip the top of the panel (just a couple inches worth), secure the bottom snaps, then zip it the rest of the way. After a couple of years of struggling with it (and ripping out one zipper trying to zip it closed), I broke down and made "snap extenders" for every panel. Things go a lot smoother now.

I can't seem to find them on iboats, but if you google "boat cover snap extenders" you'll see what I' talking about.

What part is broken?
The zipper slider? All you need to know if it is a #8 or #10 zipper. The sliders are easy to change out.
There are locking and non locking tabs. Yours should be non locking.
The zipper pull? Just take a small key ring and insert it in the hole where the tab was.Easy pezy. You can buy para-cord zipper pulls on E-Bay
