OK Here is the deal. Some of you may know I run a ministry called Adonai Outreach Ministries. Our next big Outreach event is called Project Jericho and it’s a huge paintball/camping/live music event here in Niangua Mo on May 26th-27th. We need to come up with things to do during the day and night for those who will not be participating in the paintball mayhem ( Because of being to young or just not interested). So far we figure on having a volleyball court (With military netting of course) Water gun fights for the young uns and craft things for others. We need to keep the young kids busy for two days straight and I really could use so ideas on really cool activities for them…..well and for the Moms and dads that don’t want to play as well. I have emailed back and forth with Noel from here about fireworks but I don’t think we can afford to do it right. We are sponsoring a whole bunch of kids/teens and there dads so they can play together at $35 a pop so money is real tight. If you’re interested in checking out our ministry go to our myspace

http://www.myspace.com/clubadonai

to get a feel of what we do and more info on the event. Any ideas are very welcome and appreciated. Thanx,

Frisbee golf, archery. There's a local archery shop with an indoor firing range. They have kid-size loaners. Maybe you can contract a similar establishment near you to provide what's needed. Many employ or at least know instructors. Frisbees are easy enough to find. Use a mix of hula hoops, bushel baskets, trash cans, and whatever for holes. My frisbee golf bag would include 2 fastbacks and two conventionals, one of each in regular size and the other two small. Business establishments that letter such things always have goof piles.

Yes frisbee golf aint a bad idea. Archery might be a little much for the young ones and its just my guess that those interested in archery will also be doing the paintball thing :)

The best thing ive ever seen to keep kids busy is to take a hand full of coins and put them in a sand box. Those kids will keep looking long after there all gone.Or do the same thing as a gold paning with the coins "you could use frisbees as the gold pans".

If you have enough younguns to make up two teams, and a couple of either soccer balls or those inflatable rubber balls and something to use as bases, you could organize a good old fashion game of kickball. As kids through grade 5 or 6 we always enjoyed kickball at recess.Bombardment / dodgeball with rubber inflatable balls is also a fun kid game.

If you have any poles around the camp you could rig up ,tether ball is also a fun match game.

Flag frisbee football with an adult as all time quarterback for each team. Should keep the arguments to a minimum. Some sort of scavanger hunt where they have to find certain things or facts about the place you are at. They would have to find a counselor or someone connected with the place for the answers. Washers played with the boards (holes cut with different point values on a slanted board) or use bean bags instead of washers.

What about a farting contest? You could judge it for length, peak decibels, pungency, etc.

Hmmm, I like it, but only if you serve beans for lunch that day ... might have to remember that one for Camp time! :%

All great ideas. Its gonna be really cool for the older kids but the cut off to play paint ball is 10 yrs old. The paintball part is being produced by one of the best in the business so its gonna rock but I need to put a team together the run the activities for the others. Sometimes it sux being a leader as I probably wont get to play much but hey I guess its not about me right? At night we are having bands and hopfully a couple fun exciting speakers.....anbd of course a huge bon fire and maybe fireworks......Depends as we are still behind on how many people we can sponsor and our ministry is run out of my pocket............

Javelin catching contest, lawn dart tag, or my favorite, Roman candle dodge.

I like the lawn darts thing...
Horse shoes?
If you have any wind contact a local kite club.
Bad RubberFrog :)

Our club always looks for events like that to teach young and old
how to build and fly simple paper kites. Doesn't get much cheaper.

Croquet is another cheap form of fun for teams also.

Contact your local amateur radio club.
Haven't seen a club yet that wouldn't jump at the chance to set
up and teach people about the hobby.

Metal detecting (treasure hunting) clubs will do the same.

Same with rocket clubs.

Hard to believe I forgot about this. (and everyone else)
Try a local fishing gear shop and find out who might set up
a kiddie fishing pond!

Hey Mike, how about croquet? 'Kick the can', (also called 'star light star bright'), or softball or wiffle ball. When I have young ones at RR island, (which is very dark at night) I take them to a vantage point in the early evening after dark and explain the various stars, constellations, and the milky way, (size, distance etc). Seems to get 'em every time, (and may spark an interest in 'em). 'Course the world only needs one ol' Murky, so maybe ya better not! JR 8):$

Try calling the local animal shelter to bring out some of the safe - people friendly animals and set up a course that the kids have to have the dogs complete and learn some basic handling techniques. Young kids and dogs = fun. Perhaps a golden rescue or Lab rescue would also be interested in participating.

Times have changed!

In the good old days, when you could go to any apothecary shop and buy over the counter bags of charcoal briquets, bags of sulphur, and cans of salt petre, we didn't need no stinkin' adult to keep us busy.

In fact, most of the adults around were trying to *keep* us from doing stuff and having fun!
