I have 2 mercury "tower of power" 1500's i would like to trade out...one motor is a 1977 and the other is a 1975 (if i remember correctly)...the 1975 has been recently rebuilt (less than 20 hours on it)...both motors are in excellent condition from top to bottom, serviced annually and well taken care of...these motors are top notch...both have completely rebuilt trim pumps and cylinders (done by a person that knows these systems inside and out..that would be ME!)....both motors, controls and trim systems ready to bolt on and go...i would like to trade them for a yamaha V6 150....anybody have any ideas or tips on how best to accomplish this...i know that the readers here on iboats have great minds and come up with great ideas...im looking for members input on this! Thanks!

I would say the best bet is sell the mercs one at a time and have them on a boat to demonstrate on the lake. Sell the mercs and use the money to go buy the yamaha. I'd also suspect one of the best ways to get your v6 would be to buy an entire rig and just put your tower of power on it and take the v6 yamaha off and put it on your boat, then resell the boat the v6 came on. I doubt you'll find a decent yamaha with no boat under it for decent price.

have to agree this would be the best way and most likely get you the best deal on it as well

That is great thinking JBJ....the best way to sell a motor is to be able to demonstrate its performance, i realize that so thanks for that reminder. And you're also correct about buying a boat with a yamaha on it...the things you mentioned, im already aware of...i wasn't (so to speak) putting 2 and 2 together, so thanks to you for helping me collectively organize what i already knew. Plus, it gets better because i know where a nice boat is for sale and it has a yamaha on it..i almost bought the boat but didn't know what i'd do with the hull itself...so because of you, i now have a game plan! It was all right at my fingertips, i just wasn't seeing it as a whole. THANKS!!
