Need Ideas To Mount Anchor Chain Above Deck

Frequently I anchor in a large lake at depths up to 90 feet. My anchor locker has a little over 100? of ?? rode stored in it and the locker is FULL to the bottom of the deck pipe. You can see in the photo that I also store an additional 50? of rode above deck, by strapping it to the bow railing. That?s not enough rode, but it gets the job done (when the weather is not too rough), plus I?m dealing with a storage issue here. For several reasons I need to add an anchor chain. I would have done that already, but I just don?t have anywhere to store it above deck and I?m short on ideas for such.

One of the options I have considered is pulling more rode out of the deck pipe and storing it with the above deck coil of rode on the bow railing. Possibly creating two above deck coils of rode. This would free up space to store the chain inside the anchor locker. I can foresee that could be a pain when trying to deploy the anchor, but I'm not exactly in a position to be picky.

Does anyone know of a bracket, bag or gadget that will store an anchor chain in an above deck storage application? Any chance you have photos of it?
Thanks!
Keith

Going to need something that can drain so one of those roughly 2 x 2 hard plastic crates that 4 gallons of milk would get delivered in back in the old days comes to mind but that might be a little rough on the deck so I did find this link that you might be interested in:

I must say, 90 feet is pretty deep and if you can do that now with only a total of 150' is amazing; that's about a 1.5:1 scope.

Fishing boats here in NJ that travel to the canyons have hooks on the bow rail, like you do, or large plastic garbage can like containers on the bow deck. The coil the line into those containers, as they retrieve it.

You probably need twice as much line as you have now. What about two of those hooks on each side of the rail? 100 foot in the anchor locker, 100 ' on the port side rail and 100' on the starboard side rail. I have seen that configuration on several party (head) boats.

Thanks for the replies... after further consideration and much research it appears the most economical and practical way to solve this problem is to store more rode in a looped coil that is strapped to the bow rail. The extra space that is created by this inside the anchor locker will house the chain. I think that is safer to avoid damage to the boat or injury to the boater if the chain were to be swinging wildly or break away.

Gonna look a little strange with those two rode coils on the bow rail, but I appreciate the suggestion Chris1956. Basically you're confirming what I felt all along would end up being the solution. Thanks!

Um, shouldn't the chain be attached to the anchor end of the rode? That would make it a potential tangle if it's stored in the anchor locker?
