I'm at our river place w/o my manual. Pretty sure my ignition/key switch failed.

Several members have replied with a pic of the switch and ignition wiring diagram before.

I can trace through with my meter, but a diagram would save me time. ...a reply with a diagram would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

nola mike ,thanks. Scott Danforth , also thanks.
Start contacts in the 24 yr old OEM switch are definitely bad checked with my VOM. The switch is wired per SD's note.

I'll replace tomorrow and hope all is well. The reason I may need the wiring diagram (thanks Mike) is the engine started and was idling while I untied from the dock. Shifted into gear and engine died. Started, died. Repeat 2-3 times until no crank (bad key switch). The instant engine shut off acted like a pulled dead man switch, but it was up and on.

I pulled a connection from the shift interrupt switch but the bad key switch halted further investigation.

..good dock neighbor towed me back upstream. Big jug of Kessler's for him. I'm back on my lift now so I can diagnose in peace. Hoping the bad "I" contacts in the old switch are the root.

Happy, happy. $14 Advance Auto Chineseium switch and we are back up.

Boating Karma was on my side with this one. Son reported a similar failure end of last season. Masters in Structural Engineering described "boat didn't start". ...Not a lot to go on. Worked OK for a few muff starts and from the ramp to the lift. The switch was on the edge of failure and failed in my hands, not in the middle of the river with a clueless at the helm.

I fuss over the boat to ensure reliability. 24 yr old switch was pushing it. ...now wondering the next fail part.

I'll replace the cheapo switch with a weather "proof" switch at the first opportunity.

You're getting close. All is copacetic when I'm around. But removing/installing the rail lift, winterizing, de-winterizing the river house, etc, not to mention annual boat and cottage maintenance is full of detailed work.

Each year I conjure up a simplification. Some day I'll be beyond doing this work....or just be in the beyond. I'm thinking all will be handled by someone's check book. I'm writing a manual.
