Does a '67 5 hp Johnson have a neutral? Or a way to disengage gear while warming up/starting? I have been told it doesn't, I can't find one, would like your advice.

can't find one, because it is a direct drive motor. no neutral. what is do with those is stay tied at the dock bow and stern. until it warms up. then kill it untie and restart.

I have a 5 hp direct drive outboard on my aluminum boat. I also have an electric trolling motor on the transom. What I do is to back away from the launch ramp dock with the electric until I'm out of the way of others, then turn the boat around in the direction I want to go, then start up the gas outboard.

This is, of course, temporary, until I can find a real outboard for that boat at a price I can afford. Oh, wait...maybe it's permanent.:D
