anybody know what year???? seems to be a screw or something missing from front of motor. after priming, pulled motor over and got gas spray from front of motor.

It is a 1951. There is nothing missing. That hole is the idle air/fuel intake. It leads to a rotary valve inside. The high speed intake is at the carburetor to a third port induction system. Man, you have an education in store for you on this one.
