I bought this Evinrude outboard at a garage sale. I can't seem to figure out the year nor the HP. The serial number on the bracket appears to be: 18002E-E03938
The numbers are hard to make out, but this is what it appears to me.
What is throwing me off is the cover. The cover says it is a 25HP. Please shed some light on me. Thanks.

Re: Need Info On Outboard Identification

18002E IS the model number. Makes the clamp bracket number a 1970 Evinrude 18hp. Does NOT mean the motor is a 1970, nor an 18. Just means the clamp brackets came from one. The rest of the motor looks to be more 1976 or so 25hp. See if you can find a number on a core plug located near the rear of the engine block. That will be a more reliable number for the actual motor...

The previous numbers that I gave you came off of that plate.

What's the number on the core plug? It may be different than the number on the ID plate on the transom clamps...
