I am buying a 1976 bassboat with a 85 hp Merc on it. I know the owner quiet well and he told me two years ago he put a $600 power unit on it. He said it ran when he parked it. He then turned around and bought another boat. It has sat for two years, with the same gas in it. I know I will have to go through the carbs. Any recommendations on other things I need to do before I try to start it? Once I get it running, I am going to put it on a pontoon boat. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi,

Fuel pump diaphrams and a water pump impeller you will all set to rock-n-roll.
O-ya check the lowerunit lube too.
