Hi, so i just replaced my impeller and now im having a hard time getting my lower unit back on. The copper tube that shifts the lower unit needs to go up in a precise spot so it shifts correctly. Is there a special way to get this all lined up?

I have someone coming to look at the boat friday and this needs to be finished?

btw its an alpha one gen 1

thanks.

turn the driveshaft clockwise while turning the shift lever (aka copper tube) to clockwise until it stops. It should be facing straight to the front of the drive. While still holding the shift lever, try to spin the prop counter clockwise. If you can't spin it, it means you are locked in foward gear. Next, without letting go of the shift lever, wrap a bungee cord around the prop and hook it on to the antiventilation plate. This will make sure the drive stays in foward gear.

Actually now that I think about it, the shift lever stays in the upper, so you'll have to turn the shift shaft on the drive with a pair of pliers while doing it. Unless you have a spare shift lever kicking around. (don't laugh... I do)

Make sure the remote controll inside the boat is pushed all the way forward (also forward gear) and you should be able to get it all lined up.
