Re: Need MFG Logos

MGF75, yup those are the logos. My original logos where white with a black top and I am trying to figure out how to duplicate that. Making them all black or off white is easy (I would do all black if it came down to it). I am also looking into different materials to see which is the best to make the logos out of.

I am going to start working on them again real soon. I had to repair the set slightly, The "M" in one of the logos had a gouge in it so I filled it with puddy and sanded it to bring it back. The other one had a piece cracked off but I managed to glue it back, looks really good. I will post pictures when I get this whole process started again.

Re: Need MFG Logos

I have the artwork for a retro-style set of decals which I used on my Niagara. Not a copy of the original plate, but covered my goals of 1] being nostalgic, 2] clearly identifying with the brand "pride," and 3] looking like it could be a factory logo.

Sorry, I haven't taken a photo yet but I will do that at some point today. The decals are about 4-1/4" high overall, by about 24" long. MFG letters/logo in red -as original- with black MFG whale motif, and the name "Niagara" in blue and again original lettering from a logo; all with a chrome shaky-edge perimeter "frame" to mimic an old cast name plate. I was quite pleased with the results of my effort.

I *can* do other styles if I have a reasonably good resolution .jpg to start with. Would like a high-res of some other MFG logos to do more "accurate" logos for other MFG boats in the future...

Anyway, if you want to use decals for the logo, I can provide them. I will post a photo later of what I did for my Niagara. Got to check on what I paid to get them done. Not too expensive, but not cheap either if memory serves. PM me if interested. Again, like another mentioned *not* going to pass muster with a judge at an antique show, but good for the above goals.

Re: Need MFG Logos

This is the name plate decal I created for my Niagara. PM me if I can help with your needs and I will see what I can do. I know a good vinyl guy- he cuts things to my specs and it saves a ton of money because he doesn't have to do any design work. This one was perfect- four different colors (chrome, red, blue, black) and I applied them myself so I only had to pay for the vinyl. I added a little detail to the whale: I put a small "1964" in chrome on the black whale. The average joe who walks up to me at ramps and such usually mentions something about an uncle or father who "had a boat just like that!" and thinks it is from the 70s or 80s. I keep it so clean that it is mistaken for a newer boat. Sometimes I wish I had an original nameplate to copy and put into vinyl but this did accomplish my goals and it isn't a show boat- it is my fishing platform and gets used a lot.

The 14' MFG is a GREAT little boat but not quite big enough for some of the seas on Champlain where I fish. I love the retro attitude of the Niagara and those decals finally put the finishing touch on it after 19 years ago throwing away (stupidly) the original cracked and broken name plates.

Love those old MFGs and really regret not picking up the 18' Sprint I turned down for $300 two years ago. Haven't been able to find anything in good shape at a decent price since! View attachment 109615

Anyway, to close the "ramble" I hope you have been able to get nameplates and would love to see finished pics but if you want something in vinyl to cover the need PM as maybe I can help.

Re: Need MFG Logos

Mostly Harmless any luck on starting on those logos or have you been out on the water like I have? It's about time to close down for the year here in Michigan. Had to do some work on her also. Fuel pickup screen clogged up in tank & had to pull off & fuel pump went out on lake st. clair. Had to be towed in. 8 miles @ a cost of $500.00. I'm in the wrong business. Always something.

I went to their warehouse a couple of years ago. It's full to the rafters with all kinds of old deck fittings, seats, windshields. All kinds of stuff. Like a flea market for boats.

Woosterken,
I just e-mailed Sandy Cove Marine & asked them about logos, but I am thinking if I could E-mail them a picture of yours it might help.Do you have a copy of yours shown in that thread that you could send me? If you send me a pm I can let you know my E-mail address. I would put it here but I normally don't give it out. Also, if you can give me the measurements it might help, if I decide to have vinyl ones made although I don't know how they would hold up. Thanks. I will let everyone know the outcome of my search here.

Re: Need MFG Logos

Sandy Cove Marine E-mailed me back & said they didn't have my logos but they have new stock coming in all the time & they would let me know if something came in. Woosterken, thanks for the pictures of the logos with dimensions. I sent them to Scott at Sandy Cove along with some of my boat to help them identify what I need.
r.j.dawg thanks for letting me know about Sandy Cove. They seem very professional.
I think I'll wait a bit before I have any vinyl ones made. I've waited this long. Any other ideas would help.
Woosterken I see you're a Ford man too. I pull mine with a 1993 F350 Crew cab 4X4. 9 Mpg going downhill, but it gets the job done. Sometimes the launches get a little slick.
