Alright guys, I have a new project in mind. I love to fish and I am looking at a 1987 19' Bayliner Trophy. Eeecckkk as you all know what motor is on it 125 Force. I talked to the marina and they told me it has a new Powerhead and the only thing it needed to run was a new powerpack since the #4 cylinder wasn't firing. The price 3k and looks to be in decent condition. What do you guys think good deal or not? When I get a little more money I will repower with older OMC. What would you offer. Thanks a lot! Just looking to get back on the water after selling my old Chris Craft.

You've Got to be Kidding,..????...... Is this a Troll,..????........ :D
The price 3k
That's about $2500.00 More than it's Worth,.......... IF the Trailer is in Good Shape..................

It's 20 Years Old,.......... And,..... It Doesn't Run............

If the hull was in Spotless, Cherry, Showroom Condition,...............
It Might Possibly,.. Maybe on a Good Day in the Spring, be worth that price...................But I Really Doubt It..........

If it was a Boston Whaler,....... Maybe,.... Probably........
But a B .......... Ahh, Never Mind............... :D :D ;)

Bondo definitely has a point about it not running. Their price might not be too far off of NADA's...assuming that the boat runs. When buying a boat, make sure you don't jump right in. It is winter time and there is time to make a good decision. Don't let them push you into anything. If you could find a Boston Whaler for that price it would likely be a really good deal. This deal is not out of the ordinary though. Use these boards to research, there are some great posts on here as to buying a used boat and what to check for.

Good luck and take your time :)

A Force that isn't running is likely to stay that way without putting a load of $$ into it. If all it needed was a new power pack, why didn't he just put one on. That's a simple fix and the guy has to know the boat would be worth a lot more with a running motor. There's something else going on. Keep looking.

Well, they are going to fix the boat before they are going to let me have it and they are going to let me sea test it as well. Does that sound any better?

Don't walk away from that one - - - run - - at any price. I can say that as I have owned both a Bayliner and a Force.

Get away from the Marinas,+ Hit the Classifieds,.... Paper,+ Online.......

I think you can get a Better Boat,.. For Less Money,... With a Private Sale,...
Especially in the Size of vessel You're looking for........

With 20 year old boats,..... Look for Condition,.... Not Brand.......
With Power that is Easy to get Parts,+ Service for..............

Alright still have been searching. I found a 1992 18' Renken CC with an 85 Yahmaha on the back. Fully service and will let me sea test. From what I can tell the only tacky thing on it is the console back rest in the front. Anyway, do you guys have any info on Renken Center Console's or the boats in general. I heard they are a bit better than Byliner's since that is where my search took me within my price range. Let me know, also how about them older Yamaha's i think it's 95 2 stroke. They are asking $3500 what do you think of the setup?
