hi folks, the first time I posted it was about a tach that worked off and on and it was suggested that I look into my rectifier / regulator. I read it out with a meter and it appeared bad so I replaced it, sure enough, the tach works everytime now. However, now I have another tach related question. I took the boat out today (1st time ... old boat) and the motor seems to run quite well, except that sometimes the tach reads about 8k at cruising and other times it reads about 4k, at either reading the engine sounds about the same so I don't think it's over reving, do you think my tach is bad? It appears to be doubling my RPM reading at times.

There may be a selector switch for various<br /> motors be sure it is not loose or partially selected.
