I have a 1700 prosport with a 90 merc 4 stroke.My big thing is waterskiing.I bought a 90 instead of the 115 because it had better gearing so it takes off better than the 115.A bigger problem with the boat is because it is light it is very important how you load the passengers.I actually get everyone to sit in the bow for take off.Once the skier is up they can all move to where they should sit.This vastly improves hole shot.If the boat is uneven loaded side to side it to one side pulls bad.
The dealer put a 13.25 prop with a 17 pitch on.I changed to an ss prop with the same numbers and the boat reacts the same except the rpms are up slightly to where I like them.
Don't know what you can change to without knowing what you have,your wot rpms,boat weight(1200 lbs plus gear/people),and even elevation
