need more power

i have a 2001 25hp with a 30hp carb. we are restricted to factory 25hp engines. i have a set of boyesen reeds orderd and was currious if their were any other tricks i could do to get some more power from it. i love this motor i dont have trouble in the shallow water trash like the suzuki 3cyl dose i would just like to be able to keep up a little better.

You have done quite a bit to squeeze everything out of that motor. What are your rpm's at wide open throttle and what is your motor rated at? Possibly a different prop would help. f you want more speed, generally increasing the prop pitch an inch or two will allow you to go faster. Dropping the pitch will give you extra power for heavier loads and a better hole shot. The rpms at WOT are the key in that you want to be right at the high end of the recommended range.

If you're pushing a very heavy load, a lower pitch may actually increase speed, as you'd increase rpm's to the max hp band... like a big pontoon w/a 10hp would get more speed from a high thrust prop.
