I am rebuilding my brothers 1995 Johnson 60HP outboard due to damaged pistons. He took it to a friend that worked at a outboard repair shop and they pulled the head .... now 3 months later it seems that the head bolts are missing...... Is there anything special about the bolts or are they just a grade 8 bolt? I have tried looking online for replacement OEM bolts but I cant seem to find any. The OEM number is 0322323 does anyone know where I can locate proper bolts?

you can price around might get them a little cheaper than that..or buy stainless or grade 8 bolts with small washers. make sure you get the right length

The head bolts are usually not stainless. Anyone that tinkers with outboards will be able to help you out, any salvage yard too.

Re: Need new head bolts

I have called just about all the outboard repair shops around me and they dont have anything used ... they basically tell me im out of luck. Would normal grade 8 bolts from like Home Depot work or do the bolts need to need to be made special to stretch with the block as it heats up ?

Re: Need new head bolts

Correct length is very important. Most of the OMC heads bolts are not a std length. Should be easy to get from one of these used:
