Need New Mercury Remote Control

A buddies dad has a 1969 80hp Merc that needs a new remote control. Are there any newer versions compatible to it?

Mercury has been real good about backfitting new controllers. iboats sells them and I bought a Commander 2000 from here a few years ago for about $250. Go to the top of the page and look under parts and search the lot. You need to know how many pins he has on his connector and the shape of it.

Looking for one with a trim switch in the handle. But I can only find the newer wire harness that connects underneath the hood. This motor has the round plug on the side of the motor.

Ok. Didn't remember when Merc changed to the internal connection. Sorry I can't help.
