Time for a new vacuum.Anyone love what they have.I have had 2 Kenmore cannisters with beaterbrush.Charlie

We've been runnin' the same Kirby for close to 12 years now. It was PRICEY - but it is a solid vacuum.

Our Kirby is 18 years old and HEAVY and was pricy but has been trouble free..... but for that much money we could have bought a new $100 vacuum every two years for 30 years!! If I had had a voice in this situation I would have put in a central vacuum system.

Finally retired my Electrolux tank after about 30 years. Really like my new Hoover Wind Tunnel upright.

My wife insisted on a new Dyson. It sucks! The old, old, old Hoover Convertible Power Drive still runs rings around it. Big whoop, have to change bags.

I bought a reconditioned Kirby for about $500 and it's been going strong for 11 years. My dad's is 30+ years old and still going. I burn up one of those $100 specials every year at my office and it's rarely used. They don't like to suck up pennys though.

I vote for the central vac. As for the Kirbys not sure if still true but they use to recondition them to original owner for a small fee (use to be $50).

We still have our Kirby from when I sold them! Yes, I went door to door trying to get into housewives bedrooms to show them what filth the Kirby could pull from their mattresses. Talk about a tough job. I was actually salesman of the month during the brief time I worked there and won a free Kirby!

I worked there before we were married, and we have been married 16 years. Runs great, just replaced a belt or two over the years. The shampooer system works great too! We'll probably never need another vacuum!

We used to take Rainbows with us when we demonstrated the Kirby, to show how much better it was.

I have a cental vac system and a Bissel Pet Hair upright. We seem to be satisfied with both of them.

My Mom swears by Electrolux. She still has the same one from before I was born (I'm 46).

When I got married, in '95, we bought a Kirby. Ex-wife got it in the divorce, is still using it to fly around town.

I bought a used one off ebay after the divorce for $200, and it's still going strong (10 yrs).

I'd vote Kirby.

I bought a Hoover Platinum series about a year ago. It is extremely light weight and does a great job. This is by far the best vacuum cleaner we've ever had.

We've had central vac for the last 20 years. It?s not been used regularly in maybe 7-10 years. Go tired of unclogging the pipes and fixing electrical issues every time it was used. It?s still hanging on the wall down here collecting dust.
We actually have 3 vacs in the house. A Hoover Wind Tunnel w/bag, a bag less Wind Tunnel, and a Kenmore canister. Out of the three, the Wind Tunnel bag is the oldest and works the best.

The Kenmore canister is a piece of junk. The last one we had lasted 15 years. This one started falling apart within 6 months. Don?t use it much anymore. The beater bar on-off switch went out on the handle, fortunately in the on position, and they want $100 for a new PCB board. Cheap plastic beater bar assembly is cracked where the hose connects. I currently have a hose clamp holding it together.

I have had good luck with an old Electrolux. I prefer to use the Oreck because it is so light. And, yes, I do the housework!

Get a used Kirby on ebay. Easily the best vacuum cleaner if you only use it as an upright. Connecting the hose is a pain.
