Is there a way to determine the best size winch for a trialer? Currently there is 2,000lb winch on my trailier and it one that the handle removes to provide two different gear ratio's. I am not too fond of this style since my handle keeps falling off and it is a pain the neck. I am looking at new winches should I buy another 2,000lb or should I increase it?? I have a 23.5 Larson Hampton that ways about 4,300lbs??

Any suggestions, is there a good cheap winch to purchase?? If so where?

Id think a 2000lb winch should do fine.
I have a 2000 and my boat weighs around 3300.

Menards carrys them and west marine also, along with others.

At the top of this page, click on "boat parts and accessories", then type in "trailer winch" in the search window. You'll get a nice selection to check out.
