The boat and drive is a 94 Crownline with a 305 Mercruiser and Alpha 1 GEN 2 outdrive, it has 1.65 gears also.

I have had my boat at the mechanic getting some upgrades done. While It was there he has found my prop shaft is quite bent and says I need to replace it.

The problem I am having is not wanting to use an Aftermarket one, but and oem one. I have found that I can get one through the local dealer here for about $400, that is OEM, not the GLM versions that I have been finding for around $250.

What is a good price on this? I have also checked on Ebay and still not found any of them.

The mechanic was trying to find me a good used one, from a guy he gets parts from but they have all come up as bent shafts also.

Now how stupid was that. Dang, I forgot the main information that I needed to give you guys.

The boat is a 94 with a Mercruiser 305 in it. The drive is an alpha 1 Gen 2. I don't have the part number of the shaft, but have a call into the mechanic to get that from him.

Thanks,
Bryan

I think at this point, I would either spend the extra for OEM or get a brand new SEI lower for about $700 on ebay....;)
With the cost of parts & labor, it is actually cheaper to go that route, unless you can do the drive work yourself....:)

Re: Need OEM Prop Shaft

The mechanic found a good straight prop shaft, by Lathe at the dealership that quoted me the $400.

The mechanic is not charging much to do this work. So the prop shaft will be replaced. He does this all the time, already did it 3 times this past weekend, not charging me for, on my unit trying to find a straight shaft.

He got me a Straight used one for $125, so I am good to go now. I hope I will be taking a boat ride this weekend with him to test out all the new stuff!

So I should get some numbers to put in one of my other posts about upgrading to 4bbl and A New Prfessional Products Edelbrock copy Intake Manifold. Also new Lab finished Prop. So we will see what this baby will do now, I am hoping to hit Mid 50s now at least, instead of Low 50-51.

Yea, I am thinking anywhere in between about 53-57 Would be a good guess.

I am sure I will be somewhere in that range. So I will find out, hopefully this weekend.
