Does anyone have any good pics of the shifter and throttle linkage setup on a 90 OMC 4.3? They were off my boat when I got it and need to figure out how to make things work with my new setup. I couldn't really find any good pics on google image and can't seem to find anyone that has one locally.

Thanks Lou. That's the type of pic I'm looking for, not the shitty black and white pics in the factory service manual. Speaking of which Scott, You never answered my question about if you've got a factory service manual. It's a lot more helpful to post a link or something then say a useless one line response (to multiple questions). Pretty sure the forums are here so people can help each other.

Easy does it on the comments.

You should be able to find factory manuals at outboardbooks.com. Scott's point being, you need a manual and the factory manuals are the best option.

The OE OMC shop manual actually has good pix, I'd advise buying one for your set up because getting the OMC Cobra shifter adjusted properly is a crucial element in long life of the lower unit fwd/rev gears and clutch dog.

Any pictures I've been able to find from any manual are horrible for seeing any kind of detail. I'm sure it's possible I haven't found the right ones. I ordered a manual but haven't received it yet so that's why I posted asking for one. The other issue, at least in digital format, is searching the hundreds of pages for a helpful picture. It's much easier and faster to just ask if anyone has one.

I see the OMC Cobra throttle/shift linkage parts come up on ebay now and then, on both sides there is a bracket that uses the 2 rear most bolts of the intake manifold to locate them. As long as you can get those parts, the main thing is going to be how to figure out a way (maybe using an aftermarket ESA module that works with electronic ignition) to make the ESA work. This has to be functional so that when you go to shift to neutral, it will drop the rpm from about 600 down to 450 or so to allow the sliding dog clutch to release the fwd or rev gear when there is pressure on the prop from the water. Running on the water hose with no pressure on the prop you can shift out of gear without needing the ESA to lower the idle. Only when there is pressure on the prop holding the clutch dogs engaged.

Thanks for the link kip, I downloaded it and will take a look. I got the linkage figure out but because I have a vortec manifold I have to modify the shift and throttle brackets to make them fit. Luckily they're not too far off. I'm also able to eliminate all three solenoids that bolt to the bracket. plan B is to either mount that bracket somewhere else or come up with a new shifter cable setup entirely. Who sells aftermarket ESA's?
