Re: Need Oppinion on Wellcraft 180 Sportsman

******** UpDate************

I have had the Wellcraft a little over a week and have taken it out for 7 full days of playing. What a fun little boat.

Trailers very nicely. I upgraded my trailer to one with the tefflon bunks, 15" wheels, (dont recall tiresize) LED lights, swing away arm, Trailer brakes, and the trailer is all alluminum. The Wellcraft is a perfect fit on the trailer, The trailer is rated for 2000lbs more then what my boat and motor weighs, a little extra strength never hurt.

Once in the water and under way it handles well and tracks good at idal speed. Going up on plane with 4, 200lbs+ guys takes about 4 seconds. Once up on plane and motor trimmed it will sprint very quickly to 40mph at 4200rpm. I usually settle in my cruiz speed at about 30-35mph at about 3500rpm. Boat seems very happy there. The deep V of the well craft does a real nice job cutting through the waves. was out in about 2' waves and had no problem at all continueing at my normall cruiz speed. I passed a few boat simmilar in size and they were just rolling over and through the waves as I was able to keep a steady coarse and speed.

Storage.. Tons.. LOL.. It was an area that I was concerned with uppon purchaseing the boat. I pack heavy, and my wife when she comes out, even heavier. With 6 people and all the stuff we have only used about 2/3 of total storage room.

115hp E-Tec.... Ahhh, what can I say. A very nice match for this boat, Almost silent at idal. Strong pushing the boat onto plane. Cruzing sings nicely but not loud. Can talk to anyone on the boat with only raiseing your tone slightly, even the people sitting right next to the motor. Fuel economy has been much better then I expected. Can spend a full day of cruzzing covering approx 60 miles and not even useing 1/3 tank. 50 Gallon tank helps.

Wish List:
1. Carpeting to cut some of the glair of everything being so white. I know, carpet is a pain to clean.
2. Better cleat placement, or I should say more cleats. Need to be very creative in tieing bumpers.
3. I have ordered a Garman GPS/ Fish finder. No depth meter is a drag.

Very happy over all and remember this review is of a brand new boat with my putting approximately 60 hours on it. Any how.. Thanks for reading and any feed back is always cool. Black Snow Slide
