Just purchased a new Yamaha 225. Need to purchase a oil extractor. Any ideas on what to get?

why dont you drain it trough the drain whole?
then you get all the oil out.

but there are suckups availeble.
we only use them on i/o's .

an oil change in the water is asking for problems.
1 drop of oil makes a big rainbow in the water.
what if you drop an ounce in the water.

best way to do it is to drain the oil from the drainwhole with the boat out of the water and have rags handy.

good luck

The manual says to use an extractor. I would loce to use the drain plug. Where is it located? Cannot find one unless it is hidden under a cover.

Ahhhhh. See a couple of allen head screws. Will remove screws and look this weekend.

Thanks Reeldutch. Removed 4 allen head screws and pulled a cover. Found drain plug. I prefer to drain compared to sucking.

Re: Need outboard oil extractor

make shure before you drain the oil run the motor to get the oil warm.
shut the motor down.
tilt it in the up position let is sit for a few minutes to drain all the oil in down,
than tilt it down and drain the oil.

now you got almost everything out.

when refilling the engine always use a new crushwasher and filter.
never ever use crushwashers again or you WILL get water in the oil.

dont overfill, check the oil level after you run the engine and top it of.

make a mental note how far the oil level is on the dipstick. Exactly so if you get gas in the oil
(making oil) you see the oil level different.
if you have a oil leak obvious there is oil missing.
