need parts mercury

my 7.9 1980-81 overheater and died last week. when i got home i tested the compression and it was 110 in both cyldr. (7.9hp) I also discovered no water comming out the t.t. I am going to replace the impeller and the pump. where can i get parts online and should i do anything else while i'm working?<br /><br />thanks<br />jw :cool:

110lbs is not bad for compression on that old of a motor. I have seen them run with less than 80. Just change the impellor, and while you have the lower unit off, go ahead and check the pump housing for broken impellor fins, and clean it up real good. Might as well change the lower unit oil too. You can get an impellor here, but you will need to know the serial number for that motor:<br /><br />www.mercruiserparts.com
