well i sold my last boat but i still got the bug. met a guy down at the clam shack last nite. says he's got a fine boat he wants ta sell me. it's at jimmy's used cars an the guy works there sellin used cars. he's says sometimes they take in boats for a trade in. anyways it's a 1987 bayliner 19ft. with 4 cylinders an a omc drive. he's says she's in fine shape with some wear an tear. i heard some talk on omc but he says there the best drive ever made an they got a bad rap cuz folks abuse em. he says the same thing is with bayliner. folks don't take care of em. he says the boat will go 50 miles per hour if i plane her off right. also he said it ain't got a cover on it but it won't hurt anything cuz ya use her in water anyways. he wants 5 grand for the boat if i want the trailer with it. he says he would give me a break if i don't want the trailer an he'd give it to me for 4800. he seems like a awful nice fella but i don't want ta get beat up on this deal. my last boat i had bad luck with her. what do the pros advise. oh he said she runs but needs a tune up.

Tell me, is Jimmy's office in a trailer? You don't need profesional help, you need medication.

Be afraid....

Be afraid....

be very afraid. and walk, no run... away!

either that or go home and burn 5 grand in your fireplace while you think about it. Would probably save you money in the long run.

IMHO ;-)

please excuse the sarcasm. No ofense intended...

50?? Ya, if you plane it right going down Nigra Falls. If it's got a 4 cylinder it's going to go about 35. Water kills the inside of a boat especially if it's not keeped with the bow up.

I got my 85 18ft 3.0L for $2500 and it was in prestine condition. Except the carpet needed replacing. That was with new tires, good compression, and nice and clean.

I'm sure you can do a search for what to look for when buying a boat. I'm sure when you show up with you compression gauge he ain't going to be so freindly.

This is a joke right? Is this Bondo in disguise? That would be his dream craft - and old Bayliner with an OMC! ;)

Re: need professional help

what the heck is dftt? i wnta get on the water again. the guy says he's gonna open up the lot special tomorrow for me so we can get her out on a test run. i saved a few bucks up since i paid off the ex girlfriend for her new engine. one day i was backin her brothers boat down the ramp with her ranger 4 banger. he had a 20 ft. fourwinds cuddy. well i plump forget to set the emergency brake an when i got out the next thing i seen was the whole shebang slidin down the ramp into the river. we got the boat out with some help from the dockmaster but the ranger got sunk up to the engine an was runnin so it took in a crap load of water. i forgot to turn off the engine. she was mad as hell so i had to pay her to get a new engine put in that ranger. i gess it was my fault for thinkin that ranger could tow that 4winds but i wanted to go fishin. i had a lot of folks mad at me cuz we tied up the ramp for a couple hours till we could get that rig out of the way. with all the rotten luck i been having i hope the boat is a good one.

For that kind of money for that boat, I would open up special for you also and probably buy you a steak dinner or two if you bought it.

Man.....Don't swallow that bait, it has a hook in it.

OMC is out of bussiness and parts are getting harder and harder to get. The only time that boat will see 50 mph will be on a trailer behind a truck.

That boat is probably a 1500 dollar boat in good shape. 5 grand without a trailer ? ? ? :(

BTW I have some ocean front property for sale in Arizona, ! ! CHEAP ! !, and you could dock your boat right in your front yard. If your interested pm me and we'll talk. :D :D

Re: need professional help

Yeah, he seems like a nice honest guy, and he makes his living off of you.

The trailer is probably worth more than the boat.

If you have $5,000 to spend on a boat, you should be able to find a dozen that are much better than this one.

Either he is smoking a lot of dope, or you are.

Yes, that boat is severely underpowered, it needs twice the hp that the 4 banger puts out.
