I have a Tracker 17' Bass boat with a 40hp Mariner.
Someone decided they needed my prop more than I did.

I bought a 10.375 x 13 3 blade aluminum prop.

When I took the boat out today I got 5600 rpm and about 30 mph. I need to cut this down to 5000.

Is this as easy as going up to a 17" pitch? Should I be looking for a different diameter?

Thanks
Dave

13 is the max I'd put on it and I'm suprised it's turning 5600. Is that 40 a twin or a 4-cyl?

Its a 4cyl. I just went back out to verify the tach is correct . It jumps on plane almost instantly. Its a very light boat it only weighs about 1200 lbs.

I'd leave it alone...it's right where it needs to be RPM-wise.
