Hi,

Bought a "rebuilt" 1993 70hp Evinrude, but should've inspected further. Let's just say now that the head's off I see I got worked over good. Not a bad motor as a whole, in running condition, but from a piston standpoint it is not long of this world.

If a person needed said powerhead, and was willing to pay for quality, to whom would you turn? I've read too many reports on Blackbird (A1 whoever they are). Would love to hear good reports of someone that backs up their work. Would be even better if they weren't too far from Atlanta, GA.

Secondly, if I happened to find an old barn rat boat with a good 70hp block, what years are easily compatible with the rest of my 1993 components?

Thanks in advance,

Brad

Thanks, Jim. Has anyone ever dealt with PartsPak.com (Georgia Watersports)?

Also bdub1974 on ebay looks good too. (Marine Parts Warehouse in Scottsville, KY) has 100% rating over 2500 sales, not easy to do. Anyone know anything about this guy? Looks legit. That unit shipping and all around $1900. 1 yr warranty. Rest of my $1200 motor is slick as a whistle. I hate to spend the $$, but afterwards I should have a pretty nice rig for years to come.
