Need some advice on buying a used Python boat

I have run across a 1999 21 bowrider Python boat had a 350 and has 250 hours on it. It looks in fair cond. I have never heard of these boats and can't find much info on them. Like what sort of problems they have. Anyways he said there is a seal of sorts that is located between motor and drive that is 400 for the part and 1500 for a dealer to replace. I can get the boat for 5k. I am a very skilled mechanic and owned quite a few boats in the past. I was told this site was a great place to get some advice. I will get some pic up later. thanks

I have never heard of a Phython boat. What motor/drive are we talking about?

I did find some more info. It is possibly a Formula boat. From what I am told boat companys often make off brand boats to market them like Bass Pro has the Bass Tracker. Anyway I am going to look at it some more Sunday, just wanted to know what I need to look for. It has Merc. Cruz 350 and Merc drive. The motor is a 350 based blocked stroked to a 396.
