Hi all,
I am putting a deck in my fiberglass 14' Cannot Grand Mere fishing boat, there never was a deck in this boat so I have nothing to go by as to where the deck should be sitting. I put it in as a dry fit and I am thinking that it slope's down to the bow. How do you know that it is sitting somewhat level when the boat is in the water? I am hoping that from the picture's someone can tell me where it should be. I have put a straight edge across the boat where I am thinking I should run the deck or to use a reference.
Thank you for you help

I would like to, but the lakes are still frozen right now. I may have to wait until I can float test it.

I'm going to say something that will just confuse you a bit......

In a 14' boat you asked "How do you know that it is sitting somewhat level when the boat is in the water?"

That depends on what is in the boat, who is in the boat and where people/gear are in the boat. What you want to achieve is flat. A 14' boat will pitch and roll depending on the loading. Just make the floor flat and secure and you will be fine.

Yupe. I agree.

Take a look at the front seat. That should have been installed to be level, more or less. Maybe you could use that surface as a guide for getting your decking level. :)

Thanks Bob
What I am worried about is from rain water pooling where the deck meets the casting deck when the boat is sitting for a while when fishing or over night.
I think I will just go ahead with it and if it does that, I will just put in a drain hole at that location.
