Need Some Help With My 9.8...

So i just got my second boat only this time i got a aluminum flat bottom jon boat. I got it used for like 600 with a tilt trailer motor and the 14ft boat so I think i got a good deal. Well i had some questions about the motor. Its a tiller 9.8 Mercury serial number 6518311. I think its a 1984 year not sure tho. However i just have some basic questions about it so its ready to roll in the spring. Where can i get a repair manual at? Also is there any prone problems that these have that i should be on the look out for? Any good sites that sell OEM parts at a decent price? And finally a question that i noticed this morning. I had just got it yesterday form a guy and i took off the motor and put it in the basement where its warm. Well i noticed today it looks like a type of oil/fuel mixture that has a light trail running down the shaft. It dosnt start at the cover but out of the shaft (like where one of the fins are). I looked and i dont think it is comming from the gear oil screw but i am just lost on these motors. Any help would be great!!

Yes, it's a 84. I would watch Ebay for a manual, you may as well get a OEM as some of the aftermarket are not worth having. If the engine was not run dry of fuel there is a good chace that the fuel mix your seeing entered the engine then it was tipped up to be carried in and now is running out the exhaust ports and down the torque tube.

Its not comming from the exhaust ports but in the front part adjacent to the exhaust... there looks like a 11mm or so nut there and a gap... it is comming from there... what it is i have no idea, i will try and post pics of it but camera is being stubborn
