This is the best place to ask for many reasons, other people read the question too and learn or might be going through the same thing, You will get alot of help and opinions from knowledgable guy here, thats what we are all here for. If you don't want to be asking all kinds of questions the search function works really well and you'll learn all kinds of other info you probably never thought you needed to know. If you have a question it's probably been asked and answered here before.

It looks like it could be your warning buzzer or some type of solenoid, More boat info would help too

i know its not a buzzer. the boat is a 1960 crestliner with a johnson electramatic 75 horse 5 star admaler look at it closer it regulator i think in it and and the battery cables are going in it....

Yes there is, I am pretty knowledgeable(OK) but if you be a little patient and there will be some one here who will be more helpfull then I am, Newer boats cool, but to be honest I don't have to much knowledge about boats beyond a certain year, you will get the help and your questions answered if you look tomarrow, alot of people aren't on here this late, I know you will get the answeres you seek!! I tried, older boats that I am not used to stump me>>SORRY..........Pat

Where is that part located?
Engine bay?
Underdash?
Near the controlls?

I'm assuming its in the engine bay cause the solonoid located so close.

I'm also going to guess it a voltage regulator. Can tell what wires are going to it by that picture. But it looks like a lug on the bottom.

over by the engin but in the boat its an outboard motor

I was going to say it was a starter solanoid. This might have better luck in the engine forum but I'm sure on of the guy's here will be able to Identify it positively.

zach, post your engine questions about your Johnson in the Johnson/Evinrude repair section. You'll get the best answers there.
