I was out yesterday and hit my prop on something pretty good  . Bent in one of the blades pretty good, very bad vibrations through the boat and motor tipped me off that something was wrong.
I have a Johnson v4 1980 85hp motor on a Starcraft 16' SS. The prop that got bent is a 3 blade, I have no idea what size/pitch to get. There are no numbers on the prop at all. Could someone help me out and point me in a direction to see what size this is? Or what size to get?

Re: Need some help.

Did you check under the prop nut?You may be able to get it repaired at a prop shop.
If no numbers they can measure it for you.If you can't find any info a 17" pitch is a good place to start.Don't worry about diameter a prop for your motor will fit.Diameter simply follows the design.

Re: Need some help.

Thanks for the reply steelespike, I just rechecked under where the prop nut was and saw a glimpse of a number and cleaned it off.

It says:
Michigan 011004

I have no idea what that means I'm going to google it.
As for a prop shop, I better start looking. I we have where I live is is seems like dealers for new boats

Edit: just found this from the search http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Michigan_Wheel-Michigan_Match_Aluminum-Propellers/011004/

Re: Need some help.

Ok another question. Sorry to bump this back again.

Would I be better off just getting the prop repaired then getting a new one? It looks like the new one that I have is around $120, some used on Ebay are $50 and up. I have no idea how much it would cost to be repaired or if it could. It's got a pretty good bend in it.
