I have a 1967 sport four 60 hp model 60733
I have removed the lower unit..
I have removed the water and split house down to the lower gear case.
The oil had metal shaving from a stripped bolt & thread on the lower drain screw.
During the disassembly ...the needle bearings on drive shaft fell apart on removal also pinion Bearing fell apart...all rolls on fell out both needle and pinion bearing. i have bought i new needle bearing. but
Can the pinion bearing be fixed, saved?????
Should the rollers fall/ come out?
What tools can i use to removing pinion bearings(part # omc0378264)?

I got new needle bearing that go under the water pump area i need to figure how to remove the old one from housing and install new into the housing.

Also what should i you to washout the lower gear housing with to get rid of metal shaving?
The gear look good/ no rust.

The roller bearing on the pinion gear is "loose pack", meaning it falls apart. Stick the rollers back in with some Vasoline and you are good to go.

Can't remember without digging out the book how the needle bearing comes out. But just in case you don't know, needle bearings must be pressed in from the lettered end. If you press on the other end, it will destroy the bearing.
